FAQs

What is a digital pattern?

A digital sewing pattern is an electronic copy of the pattern which you can print at home on A4 or US Letter sized paper. After you print all the pages, you assemble the sheets using glue or tape to create the full-sized pattern. In your download, there will also be an A0 copy shop file that you can bring to a nearby copy shop that will print the pattern on large scale sheets, so you won’t have to assemble anything. All information included in the paper pattern (such as measurement charts and instructions) is also included in the digital download.

How is the digital pattern sent to me?

On the receipt page of the purchase, there is a link you can click to download the file straight away. After your payment has been confirmed, a confirmation email will also be sent containing a link to download the pattern. The link is valid for 30 days after which the link expires and you will no longer be able to access the pattern. Click on the link in your confirmation e-mail to download and save the file to your computer. If you can’t find it, look in the Downloads folder where files are automatically downloaded to. Make sure to save the files in a secure place on your hard drive or storage device where you can easily find it again. Once saved on your device, you can use it as many times as you like.

The link will only be sent once, and after it expires you won’t be able to retrieve the pattern online. I strongly advise you to download and save your pattern to a secure location on your computer as soon as the confirmation e-mail comes through to you.

I didn’t receive the confirmation email with the download link?

Please check your spam/junk box on your email. The most likely reason the email doesn’t show up in your inbox is that your email account didn’t recognise the sender and blocked it. Please also be aware that if you pay with PayPal, the confirmation email will be sent to the email associated with your PayPal account. Even if you entered a different email address at the checkout, PayPal overrides this and sends the confirmation to the account email.

If you do need to get in touch about a missing pattern, please include the name of the pattern and the order number in the email.

Nothing happens when I click the download link?

Check your downloads folder on your computer, it will download files automatically to that folder. Make sure you’re searching for the right name or change the view to display recently downloaded files. If you still can’t see your pattern, please make sure your browser is up to date and that your computer doesn’t have firewalls preventing any downloads.

What height are your patterns drafted for?

I draft for a person who is 170cm (5 ft 7 in tall), please do take this into consideration before cutting out your pattern, as you might have to lengthen or shorten the pattern.

Is seam allowance included in the pattern?

Seam allowance is included in all pattern pieces. In line with industry standard, most seam lines have a 1 cm seam allowance. However, this might vary depending on the seam line. The seam allowances are clearly stated on the front sheet of the pattern, in the instructions – and if it’s anything else than 1 cm, it will be stated on that seam on the pattern piece.
