Viva Tie Jacket **PAPER** Sewing Pattern

Get sewing quickly with this simple and classic jacket sewing pattern with a modern twist. It features patched-on pockets and side ties for shape, a straight neckband on fold and sleeves that are sewed flat on to the body. 

 

The pattern includes two styles: a jacket View A and a shirt version View B. The jacket features ties to close, two roomy patch on pockets and a chest pocket and has wide sleves. The shirt has elasticated cuffs and a tie belt for a new take on the classic shirt. It is a little shorter and only features the chest pocket.

 

When the pattern is cut out and ready to sew, you can make the jacket in a day.

 

Included in the paper pattern is a beautiful envelope printed in colour, the pattern printed on sturdy A0 sheets (all pieces separate and on need to stick any pages together) and the instructions booklet. It will be delivered to you in a white cardboard box inside a plastic sleeve made from recycled plastic.

 

Skill Level

 

The skill level on this pattern is labelled as "Confident Beginner". You will need some experience using a sewing machine. Making up a straightforward garment like the Viva Tie Jacket is a great opportunity to practice double-folded hems and collar corners. Because you can choose to finish it to a basic, casual standard or use more advanced techniques – all depending on your confidence on the machine – even advanced sewists will enjoy this pattern.

 

Fabric Suggestions

 

The Viva Tie Jacket has been designed for medium to heavy weight fabrics such as cottons, linen, medium wools or denim. The shirt can be made in lighter materials such as viscose blends or cotton gauze. You can also try to make the jacket in a knit fabric or Ponte jersey – just make sure to use a ballpoint needle for this.

The pattern includes the following sizes: UK 8–28 / EUR 36–56 / US 4–24. These sizes cover bust measurements ranging from 82 cm/32 in to 132 cm/52 in.
